How long should an OKR cycle be?

The sweet spot for most teams is quarterly (3 months). Here’s why:

  • It’s long enough to make meaningful progress.

  • It’s short enough to adapt if priorities shift.

  • It aligns naturally with most company rhythms (Q1, Q2, etc.).

That said, you can set annual objectives with quarterly key results for a hybrid approach. Think of annual OKRs as the destination and quarterly ones as the checkpoints along the journey
